To narrow down our choices, we requested three different samples, allowing us to evaluate the textures, patterns, and hues in our studio’s natural lighting. Once the studio was entirely empty, we decided to tackle a fresh coat of paint before proceeding with the flooring installation. This strategic order ensures that any paint drips or splatters occur on the old, soon-to-be-removed floor, eliminating the risk of damaging our pristine new Floorte. We opted for a high-quality Behr paint and primer combination, providing the room with two coats of crisp, clean paint. The transformation was immediate and dramatic; the fresh paint instantly brightened the space, setting a perfect, clean canvas for the impending flooring upgrade. While the walls were in need of more extensive repairs and a complete structural overhaul would be ideal, we recognized that such a significant remodeling effort would need to be saved for a future project. With the painting complete, the next major task was to remove the old, unsightly plastic floor tiles. Given that we were tearing up the existing flooring, there was no need for cumbersome drop cloths, further streamlining the process. To our pleasant surprise, removing the old tiles proved to be significantly easier than anticipated. The adhesive that had originally held the tiles to the concrete floor had largely dried and lost its grip over the years. Armed with a sturdy demolition bar, we were able to pry up the old tiles with remarkable ease, revealing the bare concrete subfloor beneath. Very little residue was left behind, simplifying the subsequent cleaning process. To ensure a pristine surface for our new Floorte, we meticulously cleaned the exposed concrete floor using both a broom and a powerful Shop-Vac. This thorough cleaning removed years of accumulated dirt and debris, offering a profound sense of satisfaction. Knowing that we were finally eliminating decades of grime and preparing to lay down fresh, beautiful new floors was incredibly rewarding and a significant milestone in our studio’s transformation.
